The island is completely free to access and explore. Reach it easily via U1 (Donauinsel station) or U6 (Neue Donau station) metro lines. There are public restrooms at intervals along the island, and several kiosks sell basic refreshments, but bringing your own picnic is recommended.

The island is accessible year-round, but swimming is only practical from May through September. Summer (June to August) is peak season with the best weather but larger crowds. Spring and fall offer pleasant temperatures for cycling and walking with fewer visitors. Winter visits are possible for scenic walks, but facilities and kiosks are mostly closed.
