Admission is completely free. Limited parking is available near the trailhead on Andechsstraße, so arrive early or consider taking the S-Bahn train from Munich to Herrsching station (about 10-minute walk to the trail). Bring your own snacks and water as facilities are minimal.

Best enjoyed April through October when weather is mild and trails are dry. Winter visits are possible but can be muddy and cold. The forest is especially beautiful in autumn with colorful foliage. Church services may limit interior access on Sunday mornings.

The lakeside promenade in Herrsching (10-minute walk) offers several family-friendly cafes and ice cream shops with outdoor seating. Andechs Monastery (2km uphill continuation of the trail) has a famous beer garden with traditional Bavarian food and a children's play area.
