Spring (April to May) and autumn (September to October) offer the most comfortable temperatures for hiking with kids. Weekday mornings are quietest, while weekends can get busy with local families. Avoid midday visits in summer when heat becomes intense.

Admission is completely free. Parking is available near the entrance on Leoforos Kifisias. There are no restaurants or cafes inside, so pack food and drinks. Restroom facilities are limited, so plan accordingly before entering the forest.

Best enjoyed in spring when wildflowers bloom and temperatures are mild, or autumn when leaves change color. Summer visits are possible but require early morning timing due to heat. Winter can be muddy after rain but offers crisp, clear days. The forest is open year-round during daylight hours.

Head to nearby Kifisia (about 10 minutes by car) where you'll find family-friendly tavernas along the main square serving Greek classics like souvlaki and moussaka. Alternatively, the suburb of Acharnes has several casual cafes and bakeries perfect for post-hike snacks and refreshments.
