Kastélypark is a beautifully maintained royal palace park in Gödöllő that offers families sprawling green spaces perfect for running, playing, and picnicking. Located just outside Budapest, this protected natural area combines history with outdoor recreation, featuring peaceful walking trails and plenty of room for kids to explore and burn energy in a safe, scenic environment.

Spring (April-May) and early fall (September-October) offer the most comfortable weather for outdoor play. Weekday mornings are least crowded. Summer can be hot, so arrive right at opening (5:30 AM is early but 7-8 AM works well) to enjoy cooler temperatures before midday heat.

Admission is completely free, making this an excellent budget-friendly option. Limited facilities inside the park, so come prepared with snacks, water, and sunscreen. Parking is available near the Royal Palace entrance.

Open year-round with reduced hours in winter. Spring brings beautiful blooming gardens, while autumn offers stunning foliage. Summer is peak season but can be very hot. Winter visits are possible but dress warmly as temperatures drop significantly, and some paths may be muddy or icy.

The town of Gödöllő center (10-minute walk) has several family-friendly cafes and restaurants including traditional Hungarian eateries where kids can try local favorites like lángos (fried dough). The Royal Palace complex has a cafe with basic refreshments and restrooms.
