Rani Baug (Zoo)

Rani Baug, also known as Veermata Jijabai Bhosale Udyan, is one of Mumbai's oldest zoos and offers a manageable, compact experience perfect for families with young children. The zoo features a variety of animals including lions, tigers, elephants, and a dedicated bird sanctuary, all within walkable grounds that won't overwhelm little legs.

Visit between November and February during Mumbai's cooler, dry season. Weekday mornings are ideal to avoid weekend crowds and the midday heat. The zoo is closed on Wednesdays.

Entry fees are very affordable (under 100 rupees for adults, less for children). The zoo is easily accessible by Mumbai taxi or auto-rickshaw, and stroller-friendly paths make it manageable for families with young children.

Best visited during the cool, dry winter months (November to February). Avoid the monsoon season (June to September) when paths can be slippery and some areas may be closed. Summer months (March to May) are very hot and less comfortable for young children.
