Plaza de Armas is a vibrant historic square in the heart of Old San Juan where families can soak up Puerto Rican culture while kids enjoy open space to run and play. The plaza is completely free to visit and easily accessible on foot from most Old San Juan attractions. While there are no restrooms directly in the plaza, nearby restaurants and City Hall offer facilities. Street food vendors often set up around the perimeter.

Year-round destination. December features special holiday decorations and festive atmosphere. Summer months (June through August) can be very hot and humid, so plan visits for early morning or late afternoon. Occasional rain showers are common, but typically brief.

Cafeteria Mallorca (2 blocks away) offers family-friendly Puerto Rican breakfast and lunch with famous mallorca sweet bread that kids love. Chocobar Cortes serves churros and hot chocolate perfect for an after-plaza treat.
