Admission is free, though there's a small day use fee ($4 for adults, kids under 12 free). Parking is plentiful near the beach and trail areas. No on-site restaurant, so pack a cooler with snacks and lunch, or plan to use the BBQ grills at the picnic areas.

The park is open year-round, but swimming is most popular May through September. Some trails can be muddy after heavy rain. Fall brings beautiful foliage along the trails. Summer weekends and holidays get crowded, especially at the beach. Campground reservations fill up fast during peak season.
