Quarry Rock Trail

Quarry Rock Trail is a rewarding 3.8 km round-trip hike that's achievable for active families with kids who love adventure. The moderately challenging trail winds through beautiful coastal forest before opening up to spectacular panoramic views of Indian Arm from a rocky bluff, making the effort worthwhile for children who can handle some elevation gain and uneven terrain.

1. 1.Arrive before 9am on weekends to secure parking at the small lot near Panorama Park, as this popular trail fills up quickly. Overflow parking along the street can add 10-15 minutes to your hike.
2. 2.Bring plenty of water and snacks for energy, as there are no facilities along the trail. Pack out all trash to help preserve this beautiful area.
3. 3.The final rocky section at the summit has no railings, so keep close supervision of kids near the cliff edges where people gather for photos.
4. 4.Wear sturdy closed-toe shoes with good grip, as the trail includes slippery roots, rocks, and steep sections that can be challenging in sandals or worn-out sneakers.

Visit on weekday mornings or late afternoons for smaller crowds. Spring and fall offer comfortable temperatures for hiking, while summer mornings provide the best weather before afternoon heat. Avoid rainy days when roots and rocks become extremely slippery.

Parking is free but very limited at the trailhead. There are no restrooms, water fountains, or food vendors at the trail, so come fully prepared. The trail is not stroller or wheelchair accessible due to natural terrain, elevation gain of about 150 meters, and narrow forest paths.

The trail is accessible year-round, but winter and early spring can bring muddy, slippery conditions. Summer is most popular but also most crowded. Fall offers beautiful foliage and fewer crowds. Check trail conditions after heavy rain or snowfall, as sections can become hazardous.
