Irvine Park Railroad offers a delightful old-fashioned experience with a charming miniature train that chugs through 160 acres of beautiful Orange County parkland. Beyond the beloved train rides, families can enjoy a hands-on petting zoo, spacious playgrounds, paddle boat rentals, and special seasonal events like the famous Pumpkin Patch and Christmas Train that make this a year-round destination.
Weekday mornings (Monday-Thursday, 10 AM-noon) offer the smallest crowds and cooler temperatures. Weekend mornings right at opening are your next best option. Spring and fall provide the most comfortable weather for exploring the outdoor attractions.
Admission to the park is free, but train rides and other activities require separate tickets (typically $6-8 per ride). Ample free parking is available, and while there's a snack bar on-site, many families bring their own picnic lunches to enjoy in the park's many shaded areas.
Open year-round with extended weekend hours (8 AM opening on Saturday and Sunday). The famous Pumpkin Patch runs throughout October with special decorations and activities. The Christmas Train transforms the experience from mid-November through December with elaborate light displays and holiday theming.
