1. 1.Arrive early on weekends (before 10am) to snag parking near your preferred playground,the lot on the south side fills up quickly
2. 2.Bring a blanket and pack a picnic to enjoy near the flower gardens; there's plenty of shaded grass and the scenery is gorgeous
3. 3.Reserve paddleboats in advance during summer weekends through Denver Parks and Recreation to avoid long wait times
4. 4.The playground near the boathouse has newer equipment and better shade, making it ideal for hot summer days

Weekday mornings (9-11am) offer the most pleasant experience with fewer crowds and cooler temperatures. Spring (April-May) is magical when the flower gardens are in full bloom, and fall provides gorgeous foliage and comfortable weather for extended outdoor play.

Parking is free but can be extremely limited on weekends and summer evenings. Restrooms are available near both playgrounds and the boathouse. The park has no food vendors, so pack snacks and water for the kids.

Paddleboat rentals operate Memorial Day through Labor Day. The flower gardens peak in spring and summer. Winter offers sledding opportunities on the park's gentle hills after snowfall. The playgrounds are open year-round, though equipment may be slippery when wet or icy.

South Pearl Street, just a few blocks east, offers numerous family-friendly options including Stella's Coffeehouse (with a kids' play area) and Kaos Pizza. For ice cream after park play, head to Little Man Ice Cream's smaller sister shop, Dang Soft Serve, on South Gaylord Street.
