November through March offers the best experience, with cooler temperatures and peak migratory bird season when flamingos are most abundant. Weekday mornings are ideal to avoid weekend crowds and catch wildlife at their most active.

The sanctuary is free to visit with designated viewing hides and walkways. Parking is available on-site. Bring your own refreshments as food options are very limited in this natural area.

Winter months (November to March) are peak season for migratory birds including flamingos. Summer visits (June to August) should be avoided due to extreme heat exceeding 40°C (104°F), which makes outdoor viewing uncomfortable and wildlife less active.

The nearby Ras Al Khor Road area has several family-friendly cafes and restaurants. For a quick meal, head to Dragon Mart (about 10 minutes away) which offers various international food court options suitable for families.
