Season: November March

Global Village

About

Global Village is Dubai's spectacular seasonal outdoor festival that brings together cultures from over 75 countries in themed pavilions filled with shopping, dining, and entertainment. Kids will be mesmerized by the nightly cultural performances, thrilling carnival rides, and the chance to 'travel the world' in one evening, sampling international foods and discovering global traditions. This unique multicultural experience combines theme park excitement with educational value, making it one of Dubai's most beloved family attractions during the cooler months.

What to Expect

Families can explore country-specific pavilions showcasing handicrafts, traditional performances, and authentic cuisine from six continents. The atmosphere is carnival-like with vibrant lights, music, and crowds, especially on weekends. Kid-friendly features include a dedicated Fantasy Island amusement area with over 50 rides, nightly stage shows with acrobats and dancers, street performers, and interactive cultural demonstrations. The outdoor venue transforms into a dazzling spectacle after sunset with thousands of lights and a festive energy that keeps children engaged for hours.

Highlights for Kids

  • Fantasy Island amusement area with roller coasters, bumper cars, and carnival rides suitable for various ages
  • Cultural performances and stage shows featuring international dancers, acrobats, and musicians from around the world
  • Interactive pavilion experiences where kids can try traditional crafts, costumes, and games from different countries
  • Spectacular nightly fireworks displays and fountain shows that captivate children
  • Kid-friendly street performers, character parades, and photo opportunities throughout the venue

Pro Tips for Families

  1. Arrive around 5-6 PM when gates open to avoid peak crowds and enjoy cooler temperatures; the venue gets extremely busy after 8 PM, especially on weekends and holidays
  2. Wear comfortable walking shoes as you'll cover significant distances exploring different pavilion zones; bring a light jacket as desert evenings can get surprisingly cool, especially for kids
  3. Purchase ride wristbands online in advance for better value if your kids love amusement rides, and download the official app to locate pavilions and check show times
  4. Start with pavilions farthest from the entrance and work your way back, as most visitors do the opposite—you'll beat crowds to popular Africa and Asia zones

Best Time to Visit

Weekday evenings (Sunday-Wednesday) offer the best experience with manageable crowds, while weekends and UAE public holidays can be extremely packed. Visit earlier in the season (November-December) or later (February-March) to avoid peak holiday crowds in January. Arriving at opening time around 5 PM allows you to explore pavilions in daylight before the evening entertainment begins, giving you the best of both experiences.

Food & Drinks

Global Village offers an incredible variety of international cuisines with food stalls representing each country's pavilion—from Turkish ice cream shows to Indian chaats, Mexican tacos, and Asian street food. Most meals cost 15-40 AED (approximately $4-11 USD) per person, making it relatively affordable to try multiple dishes. Kid-friendly options include pizza, burgers, fries, and sweet treats like Belgian waffles and Italian gelato. Bring a reusable water bottle as you can refill at fountains, though bottled drinks are widely available. Seating areas can be limited during peak hours, so grab tables early or plan to eat while exploring.

Parking & Access

Global Village provides massive free parking lots with shuttle buses to the entrance, though arriving early (before 6:30 PM) ensures closer spots. Alternatively, use taxi services or ride-sharing apps like Uber and Careem for convenient drop-off at the main gates. The venue is fully stroller-accessible with wide paved pathways, and stroller rentals are available if needed. Consider bringing your own lightweight stroller for young children as the venue is expansive. The entrance is clearly marked on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E311), approximately 20 minutes from Downtown Dubai.
