1. 1.Arrive early in the morning for the best wildlife viewing,birds and marine life are most active before 10 AM

Visit on weekday mornings (Tuesday-Thursday) between 9-11 AM for the quietest experience and optimal wildlife viewing. Fall through spring (October-April) offers the most comfortable temperatures and fewer bugs, making hiking much more enjoyable for kids.

Admission is free, though donations are appreciated. Parking is available at the visitor center on Guana River Road. No food service is available on-site, so pack snacks and water; restrooms are available at the visitor center.

Winter months (November-March) offer the best weather and peak bird migration viewing. Summer can be hot and humid with afternoon thunderstorms, so morning visits are essential. The reserve is closed Sundays and Mondays year-round.

Head to South Beach Grill (about 10 minutes south) for casual waterfront dining with a kids' menu and outdoor seating, or stop at Beaches Town Center in Jacksonville Beach (15 minutes north) for multiple family-friendly restaurant options including pizza and ice cream.
