Open year-round with consistent temperatures (65-75°F) due to higher elevation. The dry season (December to April) provides easier trail conditions, while the green season (May to November) brings afternoon rains but more vibrant vegetation and active wildlife. Trails may be more challenging after heavy rains.

Head to nearby San Isidro de Heredia town center (about 10 minutes away) for local sodas (small family restaurants) serving traditional Costa Rican casados and fresh fruit batidos that kids enjoy. Alternatively, Ciudad Colón has several family-friendly restaurants including pizzerias and cafes with familiar options for picky eaters.
