Entry is completely free, and there are several parking areas around the forest perimeter (also free). No cafes or restaurants exist within the forest itself, so pack snacks and water. Most trails are natural dirt paths, so standard strollers work only on flatter routes.

The forest is accessible year-round, but spring brings wildflowers and baby animals, while autumn offers stunning fall colors and chestnut collecting. Summer can be warm but the tree canopy provides shade. Winter visits are possible but dress warmly and expect shorter daylight hours and potentially muddy conditions.

Head to the town of Montmorency (about 5 minutes drive) for family-friendly cafes and boulangeries along Rue de Paris, or visit La Table d'Antan for traditional French cuisine with a kids' menu.
