Raven Run Nature Sanctuary

Raven Run Nature Sanctuary offers families 734 acres of pristine Kentucky woodland with over 10 miles of well-marked trails ranging from easy stroller-friendly paths to more challenging hikes. Kids will love exploring alongside the creek, spotting deer, turtles, and songbirds, and discovering the historic remnants of early settlement structures scattered throughout the preserve.

1. 1.Stop at the Nature Center first to pick up trail maps, use restrooms, and let kids check out the educational displays before heading out
2. 2.Bring creek shoes or boots for water play,the creek access points are popular spots where kids can safely wade and look for salamanders and crayfish
3. 3.Pack binoculars for the kids; wildlife is most active in early morning, and the sanctuary is known for excellent bird watching
4. 4.Arrive early on weekends as the parking lot fills up quickly, especially during spring and fall when weather is ideal
5. 5.Download or photograph the trail map before you go,cell service can be spotty once you're on the trails

Visit on weekday mornings for the quietest experience and best wildlife viewing. Spring (April-May) offers wildflower blooms and comfortable temperatures, while fall (September-October) provides stunning foliage and cooler hiking weather without summer humidity.

Admission is free with donations appreciated. Pets are not allowed to protect wildlife. Pack snacks and water as there are no food vendors on-site, and restrooms are only available at the Nature Center near the entrance.

Open year-round with the most comfortable conditions in spring and fall. Trails can be muddy after rain and may have limited accessibility in winter ice/snow. Summer visits are possible but can be hot and humid,go early in the day. The preserve closes at 4:30 PM daily, so plan accordingly.
