The trail itself is free to drive, though you'll need to purchase gas for the full 180-mile loop (or choose shorter segments). The visitor center has free parking and restrooms, and most observation areas along the route are easily accessible for strollers and wheelchairs.

Spring (March-May) brings peak bird migration and wildflowers. Summer can be extremely hot and humid with afternoon thunderstorms. Fall (October-November) offers ideal weather and active wildlife. Winter provides comfortable temperatures though some migratory birds may be absent. Hurricane season (June-November) may occasionally affect coastal areas.
