1. 1.Arrive early on Tuesday through Thursday mornings to have the trails mostly to yourselves and increase wildlife sighting opportunities
2. 2.Bring binoculars for kids to use at the wildlife observation areas, they make the experience much more exciting for young nature enthusiasts
3. 3.Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes as trails can be muddy or uneven, and dress in layers since temperature can vary significantly under tree cover
4. 4.Check ahead for scheduled naturalist-led programs which are excellent for families and require no reservations
5. 5.Pack a field guide or download a nature identification app to help kids identify plants, birds, and animal tracks along the trails

Visit on weekday mornings (Tuesday through Thursday) between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM for the quietest experience and best wildlife viewing. Spring and fall offer the most comfortable temperatures and active wildlife, plus beautiful seasonal changes kids love to observe.

Admission is completely free, making this an excellent budget-friendly family outing. Parking is available on-site. Note the limited hours (closed Sundays and Mondays) and plan accordingly. Bring your own snacks and water as there are no food facilities on-site.

Open year-round Tuesday through Saturday, but closed Sundays and Mondays. Spring brings wildflowers and baby animals, summer offers lush green trails, fall features stunning foliage, and winter provides opportunities for animal track identification in snow. Trails may be muddy during spring thaw and after heavy rains.

Head to downtown Albion (about 10 minutes away) for family-friendly options like Cascarelli's Restaurant for pizza and Italian favorites, or stop by a local deli for picnic supplies to enjoy after your nature adventure.
