Admission is free with no entrance fees. The parking lot is small and fills quickly during summer; there are vault toilets at the trailhead but no other facilities, so come prepared with all supplies, water, and snacks.

Open year-round, but most popular May through September when beach weather is best. Winter visits offer beautiful snowy dune landscapes but require proper cold-weather gear. Spring and fall provide excellent hiking without summer crowds, though Lake Michigan is too cold for swimming. Trails can be muddy during spring thaw.
