Harris Nature Center offers families a wonderful opportunity to explore 90 acres of diverse habitats including forests, wetlands, and prairies right in Okemos. Admission and parking are completely free. The nature center has restrooms, but there are no food vendors, so pack snacks and water. Note that the center is closed Sundays and Mondays, with limited hours Tuesday through Saturday.

Spring features wildflowers and baby animals, summer offers lush greenery and butterfly viewing, fall brings stunning foliage, and winter provides opportunities for animal track identification in the snow. Some educational programs are seasonal, with maple syrup programs in late winter and nature camps in summer.
