1. 1.Arrive early on weekends (before 9am) to secure parking at the River Scene trailhead, the most popular and family-friendly starting point
2. 2.Bring a hiking backpack with plenty of water and snacks,there are no concessions in the park, but several scenic picnic spots perfect for a trail lunch
3. 3.Download a trail map beforehand as cell service can be spotty; the Lone Wolf Trail loop is excellent for families with elementary-age kids
4. 4.Wear sturdy closed-toe shoes with good traction as trails can be rocky and some areas have steep drop-offs requiring careful supervision
5. 5.Check the park's ruins of the old resort area near the River Scene,kids love exploring the historic stone structures

Visit on weekday mornings or late afternoons for fewer crowds and cooler temperatures. Spring (April-May) and fall (September-October) offer the most comfortable weather and stunning foliage, making hikes more enjoyable for kids without summer's heat and humidity.

Admission and parking are completely free. Restroom facilities are available but limited, so plan accordingly. The terrain includes bluffs with steep drop-offs, so keep close watch on young children and stay on marked trails.

The park is open year-round from sunrise to sunset. Fall foliage in October is spectacular for family photos. Summer can be hot and humid, so bring extra water. Trails may be muddy or icy in winter and early spring,check conditions before visiting. Spring wildflowers bloom beautifully in April and May.
