Weekday mornings or late afternoons are ideal to avoid crowds. Spring and fall offer perfect weather without the summer heat and beach crowds. For the quietest experience, visit on weekday mornings between 9-11 AM when you'll have your pick of picnic spots and playground equipment.

Parking and park entry are completely free, which is rare for such a well-maintained facility. There are clean restroom facilities, but no food concessions on-site, so pack your own snacks, meals, and plenty of water for the day.

The park is open year-round, but the beach area is most popular May through September. Fall offers beautiful foliage along the trails and fewer crowds. Winter visits are peaceful but dress warmly as the lakefront can be windy. Occasional closures may occur during severe weather or park maintenance.
