Pelham Bay Park is a sprawling 2,700-acre urban oasis in the Bronx,three times larger than Central Park! The park is free to enter with free parking available at multiple lots (though Orchard Beach may charge during summer weekends). Restrooms and concessions are available at Orchard Beach seasonally, but bring snacks for other areas of the park. The terrain varies from paved paths to rugged trails, so bring a stroller with good wheels.

Orchard Beach is only staffed with lifeguards late June through Labor Day. The park is beautiful year-round, but spring and fall offer the most comfortable temperatures for active exploration. Winter trails can be icy, so bring appropriate footwear. Some facilities close during winter months.
