The trail is completely free to use with multiple parking areas along the route, most offering free parking. Several bike rental shops operate near the Loveland trailhead if needed, and while there are restrooms at major access points, facilities are limited on longer stretches so plan accordingly.

The trail is open year-round, though winter can bring ice and snow making it unsuitable for biking. Spring may have muddy spots after heavy rains. Fall (September-October) is the most popular season with gorgeous foliage but also the most crowded. Summer mornings are best to beat the heat and humidity.
