Parking and trail access are completely free. There are no restrooms, water fountains, or food services on-site, so come prepared with everything you need. The trails are natural and rugged, so strollers and wagons are not practical here.

Open year-round, but summer months (June-August) can be very hot and humid,plan for early morning visits if going in summer. Spring wildflowers and fall foliage make those seasons particularly scenic. Trails can be muddy after rain, so check conditions before heading out.

Elmer's BBQ (about 3 miles away) is a local favorite with kid-friendly portions and a casual atmosphere. For post-hike treats, head to Andy's Frozen Custard on nearby 71st Street for concrete mixers and sundaes the whole family will love.
