Mellon Park

Weekday mornings (9-11 AM) offer the best experience with smaller crowds and comfortable temperatures. The wading pool is open during summer months, making June through August ideal for water play. Fall offers gorgeous foliage and comfortable weather without the summer crowds.

The park is completely free to visit with street parking available (check signage for restrictions). There are no food vendors on-site, so bring snacks and drinks. The wading pool operates seasonally, typically Memorial Day through Labor Day.

The wading pool is only open during summer months (typically late May through early September). Fall is spectacular for enjoying the colorful gardens and comfortable temperatures. Winter visits are possible but playground equipment may be cold and wading pool is closed. Spring brings beautiful blooming gardens but can be muddy after rain.

Walk to Aiello's Pizza on Ellsworth Avenue (10 minutes) for great kid-friendly Italian fare, or head to Pamela's Diner in Squirrel Hill (5-minute drive) for their famous hotcakes and casual family atmosphere.
