Chanticleer, a pleasure garden

Chanticleer is a breathtaking 48-acre garden estate that transforms a nature walk into an adventure for curious kids. With meandering paths, hidden garden rooms, and seasonal blooms that change throughout the year, children love exploring the different themed areas while parents enjoy the stunning horticultural displays. The well-maintained grounds are stroller-friendly and offer plenty of space for little ones to discover nature at their own pace.

1. 1.Arrive when gates open (Wednesday-Sunday at 10am) to beat crowds and enjoy cooler morning temperatures, especially in summer
2. 2.Bring a nature scavenger hunt checklist to keep kids engaged,look for koi fish in the ponds, different colored blooms, and decorative sculptures throughout the gardens
3. 3.Pack water and snacks since there's no café on-site, and wear comfortable walking shoes as you'll cover significant ground on gravel and stone paths

5. 5.Photography is encouraged, so bring a camera or phone to capture your family among the beautiful blooms

Spring (April-May) for spectacular blooms and mild weather, or fall (September-October) for gorgeous foliage and fewer crowds. Weekday mornings are quietest, while weekends can get busy but still manageable. Avoid visiting during extreme heat, as there's limited shade in some garden areas.

Admission is $15 for adults, free for children 15 and under (as of 2024). Free parking is available on-site. No food service available, but picnicking is not permitted on the grounds, so plan meals before or after your visit.

Open April through October only (closed November-March). Peak bloom periods are late April through June for spring flowers and September for fall colors. The garden hosts special events throughout the season. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays; open Wednesday through Sunday.

Head to Blue Bell Inn (3 miles away) for classic American fare with a dedicated kids menu, or try Nudy's Cafe in downtown Wayne (2 miles) for casual breakfast and lunch options that kids enjoy.
