1. 1.Head to the public beaches east of the airport (Carras or Castel beaches) where the sand is finer and crowds are lighter than the central pebble beaches near Place Masséna.

Late spring (May-June) or early fall (September-early October) offer warm swimming weather with fewer crowds than peak summer. Visit early morning (8-10am) or late afternoon (after 5pm) to avoid the hottest hours and strongest sun, especially with young children.

The beach is free to access, though you can rent loungers and umbrellas (15-25 euros per day). Several paid parking lots are available nearby. Bring your own beach supplies and snacks as beachfront vendors are expensive. Public restrooms and showers are available along the promenade.

Best for swimming June through September when water temperatures are warmest. The promenade is enjoyable year-round for walking and biking, though many facilities close November through March. Summer (July-August) brings the biggest crowds and highest prices.
