Big River Crossing offers families a one-of-a-mile adventure across the mighty Mississippi River (not Tennessee River as sometimes listed) on the longest public pedestrian bridge spanning the river. Kids will be thrilled by the LED light displays that illuminate the bridge at night, creating a magical atmosphere as you walk or bike high above the water. It's a completely free outdoor experience that combines exercise, stunning views, and the excitement of crossing between Tennessee and Arkansas.
Early morning (7-9am) on weekdays offers the most peaceful experience with fewer crowds and cooler temperatures. For the full experience, visit on Friday or Saturday evening to see the LED light show, arriving an hour before sunset to enjoy both day and night views.
Admission and parking are completely free. The bridge is stroller and wheelchair accessible with smooth pavement throughout. There are no restrooms or food vendors on the bridge itself, so plan accordingly and bring water bottles.
Open year-round, but spring (March to May) and fall (September to November) offer the most comfortable temperatures for families. Summer visits are best in early morning or evening to avoid midday heat. Winter can be quite cold and windy on the bridge, so bundle up.
