Visit on weekday mornings (Tuesday-Thursday) in spring or fall for the most pleasant weather, smaller crowds, and most active birds. The mountain location means summer afternoons can be hot, while mornings offer cooler temperatures and better bird interaction.

Admission prices are moderate and include access to all bird areas and gardens (check website for current rates). The attraction is built on a mountainside with stairs and inclines, so wear comfortable walking shoes; stroller accessibility is limited in some areas.

Open year-round with daily hours. Spring (April-May) and fall (September-October) offer the most comfortable temperatures for outdoor exploration. The gardens are especially beautiful during spring blooming season. Some outdoor areas may close temporarily during severe weather.

The Old Mill Restaurant (5 miles away) offers Southern comfort food in a historic setting with a kid-friendly menu. Mel's Diner (3 miles) is a classic 1950s-style diner with burgers, shakes, and a fun atmosphere kids enjoy.
