Shady Grove Park

Shady Grove Park brings a rare beach vacation vibe to the Fort Worth area, offering families a sandy shore along Eagle Mountain Lake right in Azle. Visit on weekday mornings or late afternoons during summer for smaller crowds and cooler temperatures. Spring and early fall offer pleasant weather with fewer visitors. Sunset hours (especially summer evenings) provide the most beautiful views and cooler conditions for families.

This is a public city park with free admission and parking available on-site. Restroom facilities are available, but plan to bring your own food, drinks, and beach supplies as there are no concessions or rentals at the park.

Best visited May through September when warm weather makes swimming enjoyable. The lake water is typically too cold for comfortable swimming in winter months. Spring and fall offer pleasant weather for picnicking and playground time even when swimming isn't ideal. Check local conditions after heavy rains as lake levels and water clarity may vary.
