The Cibolo Center for Conservation offers 100 acres of hands-on nature exploration that turns kids into junior paleontologists and naturalists. With real dinosaur tracks to discover, friendly farm animals to meet, and miles of family-friendly hiking trails through restored prairie land, this hidden gem near San Antonio provides an educational outdoor adventure that keeps children engaged for hours.

1. 1.Visit the dinosaur tracks first thing in the morning when kids have the most energy for the moderate hike to reach them,they're real Acrocanthosaurus footprints from 110 million years ago!
2. 2.Bring binoculars and a nature journal for kids to document wildlife sightings; the prairie restoration area is excellent for bird watching, especially during spring and fall migrations.
3. 3.Wear closed-toe shoes suitable for hiking and bring plenty of water,there's limited shade on some trails and Texas heat can be intense.

Visit on weekday mornings during spring (March-May) or fall (October-November) when temperatures are comfortable for hiking and wildflowers are blooming. These times offer smaller crowds and the best weather for outdoor exploration with kids.

Admission is free, though donations are welcomed to support this non-profit conservation organization. Parking is available on-site, and while there are no food services, picnic areas are available so pack snacks and lunch for a full day of exploration.

Closed weekends and Sundays, so plan weekday visits accordingly. Spring offers stunning wildflower displays, while summer can be very hot,early morning visits recommended June-August. Fall and winter provide comfortable hiking temperatures and excellent bird watching opportunities.

Head to downtown Boerne (5 minutes away) for The Dodging Duck Brewhaus, which has a kid-friendly menu and outdoor patio, or Po-Po Family Restaurant for classic American comfort food that pleases picky eaters.
