Erwin Park

Erwin Park is a beautiful 212-acre nature preserve in McKinney that offers families an authentic outdoor escape with over 5 miles of hiking and biking trails winding through meadows and woodlands. Visit during spring (March-May) or fall (October-November) for the most comfortable temperatures and beautiful wildflower displays or fall foliage. Weekday mornings offer the quietest experience, while early weekend mornings (7:00-9:00 AM) provide cooler temps before the park gets busy.

Parking is free and ample at the main trailhead. There are restroom facilities at the entrance but no food vendors, so pack snacks and plenty of water. The main trails are well-maintained and suitable for most fitness levels.

Spring brings spectacular wildflower blooms (bluebonnets and Indian paintbrush), making it the most scenic time to visit. Summer can be extremely hot, so early morning or evening visits are essential. Fall offers mild weather and beautiful foliage. Trails remain open year-round, though programs may be limited in winter.
