🕑 4-5 hours round trip including time at the waterfall👶 Best for ages 8 and up. The trail includes steep sections, rocky terrain, and stream crossings that require good balance and stamina, making it ideal for older children, tweens, and teens who have hiking experience. Pro Tips

  1. 1.Arrive before 8am on weekends to snag parking, the small trailhead lot fills up quickly and street parking can add 15-20 minutes to your hike
  2. 2.Bring sturdy water shoes or hiking boots with good traction for multiple stream crossings; kids' feet will get wet no matter what
  3. 3.Pack plenty of water and snacks, there's no shade at the trailhead and limited cell service, so come prepared for a 4-5 hour adventure
  4. 4.The trail can be muddy and slippery in spring with snowmelt; late summer through early fall offers the best conditions with a flowing but manageable waterfall
  5. 5.Use the waterfall pool area as motivation,it's a beautiful reward where kids can cool off, splash, and explore before the return hike

Best Time to Visit

Visit on weekday mornings during late summer or early fall for the best experience. Weekends get extremely crowded, especially from May through July. Early morning starts (7-8am) help you avoid afternoon heat and crowds, plus the lighting is gorgeous in the canyon.

What to Know

The trail is free to access with no facilities at the trailhead (no restrooms or water), so plan accordingly. Parking is limited to a small dirt lot at the end of Adams Canyon Drive; arrive early or be prepared to park along the residential street and walk to the trailhead.

Seasonal Notes

Best hiked from June through October when trails are dry and accessible. Spring can be muddy with heavy snowmelt making stream crossings difficult. Winter hiking is possible but requires microspikes and experience with snow/ice conditions. The waterfall is most impressive in late spring/early summer but trails are more crowded then.
