1. 1.Arrive early (before 9am) on weekends to secure parking and enjoy cooler temperatures, as the lot fills quickly and shade is limited on exposed sections
2. 2.Bring plenty of water and sun protection,there's limited shade on most trails and the high elevation intensifies UV exposure
3. 3.Download trail maps before you go as cell service can be spotty in the canyon
4. 4.Watch for mountain bikers, especially on weekends; teach kids to stay to the right and listen for bike bells
5. 5.The lower mile of trail is the most family-friendly with gentler grades,turn around whenever kids get tired rather than pushing too far

Spring (April-May) and fall (September-October) offer the most comfortable temperatures and beautiful scenery. Weekday mornings are ideal for avoiding crowds. Summer mornings before 10am work best to beat the heat, while winter can bring snow and ice making trails challenging.

Parking is free but limited to a small lot at the trailhead. There are no restroom facilities, water fountains, or food available, so come fully prepared with snacks, water, and plan bathroom stops beforehand in Herriman.

Best hiking conditions from April through October. Summer can be very hot with limited shade, so early morning visits are essential. Winter snow and ice can make trails impassable or dangerous without proper equipment. Spring runoff may create muddy conditions in April.

Head back into Herriman for family meals at Cafe Rio (Mexican favorites kids love) or Chick-fil-A on Mountain View Corridor, both about 10 minutes from the trailhead.
