Willard Bay State Park

Willard Bay State Park is a fantastic freshwater beach destination just north of Ogden, offering families a refreshing escape with sandy shores perfect for building sandcastles, calm waters ideal for young swimmers, and plenty of space for picnics and play. With over 9,900 acres of water and shoreline, kids can enjoy swimming, paddling, and wildlife watching while parents relax on the beach or join in the fun with kayaking and boating.

Visit on weekday mornings during June through August for the warmest water and best swimming conditions with fewer crowds. Early mornings (6-9 AM) offer calmer waters, cooler temperatures, and the best wildlife viewing opportunities before the afternoon winds pick up.

Day-use fees apply ($15-20 per vehicle). Restrooms, outdoor showers, and changing facilities are available at both marinas. Limited food vendors operate during peak season, so bringing your own picnic is recommended. The park has accessible paths and facilities for strollers and wheelchairs.

Best visited May through September when water temperatures are warmest and facilities are fully operational. Swimming is most comfortable June-August. The park remains open year-round for fishing, bird watching, and winter activities, but beach amenities and water activities are seasonal. Winter months can be windy and cold.

Head to nearby Willard or Brigham City (10-15 minutes away) for family dining options like Maddox Ranch House (famous for their chicken and fun ranch atmosphere) or local fast-food chains. Pack a picnic to enjoy at the park's scenic waterfront tables.
