Bell Canyon Trail

Bell Canyon Trail offers adventurous families a rewarding 4.5-mile round-trip hike through stunning Wasatch Mountain scenery, culminating in a beautiful waterfall that makes the moderate climb worthwhile. 1. 1.Arrive before 8am on weekends to snag parking in the small lot; overflow parking along the residential street can add 15-20 minutes of walking before you even reach the trailhead
2. 2.Bring plenty of water (at least 2 liters per person) and high-energy snacks - there are no facilities or water sources along the trail
3. 3.The trail crosses the stream multiple times, so waterproof hiking boots are essential, especially in spring and early summer when water levels are higher
4. 4.Turn around at the lower reservoir (2 miles in) for a shorter family-friendly option if the full hike to the waterfall feels too ambitious
5. 5.Pack layers as temperatures can drop significantly in the shaded canyon areas, and the waterfall area stays quite cool even in summer

Late spring through early fall (May-October) offers the best conditions, with peak waterfall flow in May and June from snowmelt. Weekday mornings are ideal to avoid crowds and secure parking. Summer mornings (7-10am) provide cooler temperatures before afternoon heat sets in.

Parking is free but very limited with only about 10 spaces at the trailhead. The trail requires no fees or permits. Restroom facilities are not available, so plan accordingly before arriving. The trail is not stroller or wheelchair accessible due to rocky terrain and stream crossings.

Trail is typically accessible May through October. Winter and early spring conditions make the trail icy and potentially dangerous. June offers peak waterfall flow. Fall (September-October) features beautiful autumn colors but reduced water flow. Check local conditions before visiting as summer thunderstorms can create flash flood risks in the canyon.
