A visit to Montpelier connects you to the foundations of American democracy, where “a more perfect Union” took shape and continues to inspire today. Join us for a one-hour guided tour of Montpelier’s historic mansion as we commemorate 250 years since James Madison launched his political career in 1776. Trace his journey from young revolutionary to Father of the Constitution, Architect of the Bill of Rights, and fourth president of the United States. Along the way, discover Dolley Madison’s defining role as First Lady and learn about the enslaved people whose lives were central to Montpelier’s story.
