About This Event
A visit to Montpelier connects you to the foundations of American democracy, where “a more perfect Union” took shape and continues to inspire today. Join us for a one-hour guided tour of Montpelier’s historic mansion as we commemorate 250 years since James Madison launched his political career in 1776. Trace his journey from young revolutionary to Father of the Constitution, Architect of the Bill of Rights, and fourth president of the United States. Along the way, discover Dolley Madison’s defining role as First Lady and learn about the enslaved people whose lives were central to Montpelier’s story. NOTE: Saturday, May 9th will be our Spring Market and there will be no Highlights of Montpelier Tour, but Open House tours will be offered. 2026 Hours March - May 25: Open Thursday - Monday, 9:00am-4:00pm May 26 - Open Tuesday - Sunday and Holiday Mondays, 9:00am-4:00pm November 2 - Open Thursday - Monday, 9:00am-4:00pm November 28 - Closed for Thanksgiving December 25 - Closed for Christmas December 26 - January 3, 2027 - Open, 9:00am -4:00pm Online Ticket prices (We accept VISA, Discover, MC and Cash): Save $1/ticket by purchasing in advance. $34 (18 and older) $16 (Youth 12-17) $8 (Child 5-11) Free (Toddler 4 and under - ticket required) $32 (senior 65 & older) $32 (military w/ ID) Tour Tickets are Released Two Weeks in Advance Montpelier does not rely on government support and is funded through visitation, grants, donations, and memberships.
