Stowe Recreation Path

The Stowe Recreation Path is a beautiful five-mile paved trail that winds through some of Vermont's most stunning scenery, making it perfect for families who want a safe, car-free outdoor adventure. With multiple access points throughout town, you can customize your journey to match your family's energy level, whether that's a quick mile-long stroll or the full scenic route with mountain views, crossing charming bridges over the West Branch River.

Early morning or late afternoon during weekdays to avoid crowds, especially in peak summer and fall foliage season (late September-early October). Spring through fall offers the best weather, with crisp autumn mornings providing the most spectacular mountain and foliage views.

The path is completely free to use with multiple free parking areas at various access points throughout Stowe. No facilities directly on the path, so plan bathroom breaks at access points with amenities like the elementary school or recreation center.

Open year-round, though most popular from late spring through fall. In winter, the path is maintained for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and fat biking, offering a magical snowy experience. Peak foliage (late September-early October) draws the biggest crowds but offers breathtaking views.
