Entry is completely free, making this an excellent budget-friendly family activity. Parking is available at the entrance. There are basic toilet facilities but no food vendors, so pack everything you'll need. Trails are natural dirt paths rather than paved.

The reserve is open year-round. Spring (September to November) offers spectacular wildflower displays. Summer (December to February) can be very hot, so morning visits are essential. Winter (June to August) brings occasional rain but fewer crowds and green landscapes. Check for possible closures during extreme fire danger days in summer.
