Brooker Creek Preserve offers families over 2,000 acres of pristine Florida wilderness to explore through easy boardwalks and nature trails perfect for little legs. The impressive Environmental Education Center features interactive exhibits about local ecosystems, while rangers lead engaging wildlife programs that turn curious kids into junior naturalists.

Visit on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday mornings between 9-11 AM when temperatures are comfortable and wildlife is most active. Winter months (November-March) offer the most pleasant hiking weather and fewer mosquitoes.

Admission is completely free with ample parking at the Education Center. There are no food vendors on-site, so pack snacks and water. Restrooms and water fountains are available inside the Education Center.

Open year-round with the most comfortable hiking weather from November through April. Summer months can be hot and humid with afternoon thunderstorms, so plan morning visits. The preserve occasionally hosts special seasonal events like nature photography workshops and full moon hikes.

Head to Tarpon Springs (10 minutes away) for family-friendly Greek food at Hellas Restaurant & Bakery, or grab casual pizza at Jimmy's Crow's Nest right on the Anclote River where kids can watch boats while eating.
