Rookery Bay Environmental Learning Center offers an immersive nature experience where kids can get hands-on with Southwest Florida's coastal ecosystems. From touching sea creatures in the interactive touch tanks to spotting wildlife from the observation tower, this educational center makes learning about estuaries and marine life exciting for young explorers.
Visit on weekday mornings during winter months (December-March) for comfortable temperatures, excellent wildlife activity, and fewer crowds. The observation tower offers the best bird-watching opportunities early in the day, and marine creatures in the touch tanks are most active in cooler morning hours.
Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 6-12 (under 6 free). Free parking is available on-site. No food is sold at the center, so bring snacks and water, though there are picnic areas available. The facility is wheelchair and stroller accessible.
Closed Sundays and Mondays year-round. Summer (June-September) brings afternoon thunderstorms and heat, making morning visits essential. Winter is peak season with the most comfortable weather and active wildlife. Hurricane season (June-November) may occasionally affect hours.
