Pro Tips
- 1.Park at the Maximo Park trailhead which has ample free parking, restrooms, and picnic areas - perfect for before or after your ride
- 2.Bring sunscreen and hats - there's very little shade on the trail since you're elevated above the bay
- 3.Visit on weekday mornings for the calmest conditions and fewest crowds, especially if you have beginning cyclists
- 4.Rent bikes at the nearby trailhead if you don't have your own - several vendors offer kids' bikes and trailers
- 5.The trail is an out-and-back route, so turn around whenever kids get tired - even just riding partway offers amazing views
Best Time to Visit
Early morning (7-9am) or late afternoon (4-6pm) during fall through spring months offer the most comfortable temperatures and beautiful lighting for photos. Weekdays are significantly less crowded than weekends, making them ideal for families with young or learning cyclists.
What to Know
The trail is completely free to use with ample parking at the Maximo Park entrance. Bring your own bikes or rent from nearby vendors, and pack plenty of water as there are limited facilities once on the trail itself.
Seasonal Notes
Open year-round, but summers can be extremely hot and humid with intense sun exposure. Best visited October through April when temperatures are milder. The trail can be windy, especially during winter months, which may challenge younger riders.
Nearby Eats
Stop at Skyway Jack's Restaurant near the trail entrance for casual waterfront dining with a kids' menu, or pack a picnic to enjoy at Maximo Park's shaded pavilions after your ride.
