The reserve is completely free with no visitor facilities, so bring all supplies including water, snacks, and toilet paper. Access is easiest by taxi from Tai Po Market MTR station (about 10 minutes), as public bus service is limited.

Best visited October through March when temperatures are mild and humidity is lower. Summer months (June to August) are hot, humid, and prone to heavy rain. Trails may be slippery after rain, so check weather conditions before visiting.

Head to Tai Po Market area (about 10 minutes by taxi) for family-friendly local restaurants including dim sum spots and casual Cantonese eateries. Tai Po Mega Mall also offers familiar chain restaurants and food courts with high chairs and air conditioning.
