


Loose Park is Kansas City's beloved 75-acre urban oasis that offers something for every family member. From a fantastic playground and serene lake with ducks to feed, to sprawling green spaces perfect for running wild, this park is ideal for everything from quick afternoon outings to full-day family adventures with picnic blankets and bikes.
Weekday mornings (8-10 AM) offer the most peaceful experience with plenty of parking and uncrowded playground equipment. Spring and fall provide perfect weather, while late May-June showcases the famous rose garden in full bloom.
Admission and parking are completely free. Restrooms are available near the playground area. The park has multiple entrances, but the main parking lots are accessible from Wornall Road and 51st Street.
The rose garden is most spectacular from late May through September, with peak blooming in early June. Winter visits are still lovely for playground time and walking, though the park is most popular spring through fall. The park occasionally hosts community events and summer concerts.
The nearby Plaza district (just a few minutes away) offers tons of family-friendly options including Fric & Frac, a casual spot with great burgers and a kids' menu, or Shake Shack for quick burgers and shakes the kids will devour after burning energy at the park.
