Spring (April-May) and fall (September-October) offer the most spectacular gardens and comfortable temperatures for exploring. Weekday mornings are less crowded, but weekends feature family programming. Arrive right at 10 AM opening for the quietest experience.
Admission is $10 for adults on weekdays, $12 on weekends; children under 6 are free, ages 6-18 are $4. Free admission on Tuesday mornings and all day Saturday until noon. No food service on-site, but picnicking is welcome. Stroller-friendly paved paths available, though some woodland trails are unpaved.
The gardens are most vibrant from spring through fall. Winter hours may be shortened (check ahead). Special events include October pumpkin decorating, holiday workshops in December, and spring bulb displays. Garden features change seasonally, with the conservatory greenhouses providing year-round interest.
