What to Know
Day-use fee is $5 per vehicle (or free with America the Beautiful pass). Lava River Cave requires a separate $5 fee. Many trails are unpaved and rugged, and cell service is limited throughout the monument.
Seasonal Notes
Many areas including Lava River Cave are closed November through April due to snow. Some higher elevation roads may remain closed into June. Summer (July-August) offers full access but brings the largest crowds. Fall colors around the lakes are spectacular in late September.
