1. 1.Arrive before 10am to secure a good spot, as this popular beach fills up quickly during peak season and parking is extremely limited.
2. 2.Bring a beach umbrella or sun tent, as there is no natural shade on the sand. South African sun is intense, so pack plenty of high-SPF sunscreen and reapply frequently.
3. 3.Access requires descending about 30 steep steps, so bring a lightweight cooler or backpack rather than a heavy beach cart. Consider packing light with essentials only.
4. 4.The water is cold year-round (typically 16-20°C), so bring wetsuits for kids who want to swim for extended periods.

Visit during South African summer (December to March) for the warmest weather and calmest seas, ideally on weekday mornings between 9am and 11am to avoid crowds and secure parking. The beach is most sheltered in the afternoon when the famous Cape Town wind picks up.

Beach access is free, but parking is very limited and competitive. There are no on-site facilities, shops, or restaurants, so come fully prepared with food, drinks, and beach essentials. The steep stairs make stroller access impossible.

Best visited during South African summer (December to March) when temperatures are warmest. Winter months (June to August) can be quite cold and windy, though still beautiful for beach walks. Lifeguard services are typically available during peak summer season only.

The Clifton area has limited dining options, so consider heading to nearby Camps Bay (5-minute drive) where the beachfront promenade offers family-friendly restaurants like Paranga or The Codfather with ocean views and kids' menus.
